Our January community meeting brought together families and staff, and showed so many ways to get involved at Roxhill! Whatever your schedule and interests, there are ways to support our students and community. We’ve collected TONS of opportunities below, and we’re always open to other ideas and suggestions. We can’t wait to hear from you!
Most urgently, we need a few more volunteers for the Skate Night bake sale on Wednesday, February 4.

At School and In the Classroom
Reading Buddies
Sit with students as they read to you for 15 minutes. This works great right after dropoff, but timing is flexible. Contact Katarina.
Classroom & Field Trip Support
Ms. Prynne is eager for parents who want to work with students on reading, writing, and math. Families can contact their own classroom teachers to see if they would like volunteers as well. Watch for lots of field trip volunteer opportunities in the spring!
Lunch & Office Support
Roxhill can always use some friendly volunteers to help students during any of the three daily lunch periods (e.g. help younger students open wrappers). The front office can use support organizing the nurses closet once/week or once/month. Contact us to volunteer.
School clubs and transportation
Student Transportation Support
We are looking for parents who can help monitor a few busy intersections to make independent walking safer, volunteers to help with the walking school bus from 21st and Holden, and parents able to support driving a student to or from school. Contact the office if you can help.
Girls on the Run & Bike Rodeo
Help coach and mentor students afterschool once a week in Girls on the Run club or help volunteer for the Spring Bike Rodeo! Contact Nurse Ann.
Help make the yearbook!
Join the team working on the yearbook. Work with students to capture pictures or help with layout and logistics. Without volunteer support, we risk not having a yearbook this year! Contact us to get involved.
School Events
Help with Family Fun Night & Skate Night
We still need volunteers to bring and sell bake sale items on Wednesday, February 4! Sign up now
Help organize partner organizations, room activities, and food for our upcoming Family Fun Night! Contact Friends of Roxhill.
Outdoor School Funding Support
Beyond the parent volunteers needed to go to camp, we are seeking people who can help look for grant funding to help fill the gap left by the loss of state funding for outdoor education at Title I schools. Contact Ms. Prynne.
Solicit Auction Donations (or donate them yourself!)
A great short opportunity. Connect with the auction team to reach out to local businesses in person and via email/phone, or donate an item or personal service yourself! Contact the auction team to get involved.
You can also help by sharing the Auction page with your favorite local businesses and asking them to sponsor or donate items.
Garden & Outdoor Improvement
Work in the Garden
Many hands make light work! Watch out for garden work parties, and email friendsofroxhill@gmail.com if you’d like to help maintain the garden or support student learning in the garden.
Improve Roxhill’s playground and outdoor space
Work to increase greenery and beautify the playground with a potential new mural in the coming year!
Support Friends of Roxhill
FORE is seeking parents interested in helping with communications, fundraising, bookkeeping, event planning, volunteer outreach, and more. Opportunities are flexible and can be tailored to your interests and availability.
FORE is seeking board members able to attend one monthly meeting and support the work of Friends of Roxhill, but you do not have to join the board to help with these tasks. Contact friendsofroxhill@gmail.com to learn more.
Stay up-to-date
New one-time volunteer opportunities, usually for events, are posted to our Volunteer page and in our newsletter. Contact us to get on the volunteer opportunities mailing list or join our new experimental volunteers WhatsApp community.
