Have you noticed the beautiful, colorful leaves all around our neighborhood? The rain is here, and daylight is growing shorter, but there are still vibrant colors to appreciate outside and exciting learning and community-building inside our awesome school, Roxhill.
This month, we have photos from the literacy parade, a brief story of volunteer impact, and plenty of important school updates. We’ll hope to see you at our upcoming events too, including curriculum night—read details to know where the ice cream is!—and a community meeting with a guest presentation by the Special Education PTSA!

School Updates
Get to Know Ms. Zuri!
Ms. Zuri is often the first person greeting students and visitors coming in throughout the day. But do you know where she grew up or her favorite hobbies? You’ll find that and a great baby photo on our Instagram account this month. And don’t forget to follow!

Last Call for Lost & Found!

Lost & Found is piling up with coats & sweatshirts!
Please have your child look for a missing item, or come by the school between 7:35 am – 3:00pm on school days to look for missing items.
Hurry, though! Items left after 8:00pm on November 10, 2025 will be removed and donated.
Celebrating reading with a joyful Literacy Parade!
Students, parents, and staff all joined together to celebrate reading, creativity, and community on Friday, October 31. Each class had made a costume celebrating a book they had read and walked through the front hallway to cheers and clapping!
And of course, the amazing Roxhill staff got in on the fun, dressing up with their students to celebrate literacy.

We had even more great photos from the parade on our Instagram stories. Follow for things like that, announcements of community events, and important school reminders!
Food resources for families during government shutdown
We know this is a challenging time for many families in our community with the government shutdown and uncertainty around SNAP benefits. Yesterday, Seattle Public Schools a page of basic needs resources for families.
Don’t forget that all students can receive a free breakfast and lunch every day at school. For families who qualify, make sure to fill out the free and reduced meal application to help ensure this service continues to serve our school community. See Principal Bruno’s most recent update for more details on free school meals.
Volunteer impact: Crossing flags @ 34th and Holden
Thanks to a parent volunteer, we recently installed safety flags for all our walkers crossing at 34th and Holden. Make sure to use them when crossing to increase your visibility, especially as it begins to get darker and rainier earlier.
Calling all volunteers! We need you to help support Roxhill!
Like the volunteer who lead the work for new crossing flags, family volunteers help build a safer more vibrant school community!
