Skate Night Tomorrow + More February Fun and News

February might be the shortest month on the calendar, but there are lots of opportunities for connecting with our school community at Skate Night, the monthly community meeting, or the Kings & Queens potluck!

And there are other ways to get involved! Bake an item for the Skate Night bake sale, help walk kids to school, or check out last week’s post full of other volunteer opportunities.

Seeking Healthy Snacks for Afterschool Crafternoon Clubs

Our Crafternoon club meets Thursdays after school. Followers of our Instagram got to see them in action in our stories last week! We are seeking 20 single serving healthy snacks per week through March 5 to support the crafternoon clubs.

We need volunteers and there are so many ways to get involved!

In case you missed it, we just posted a ton of new volunteer needs in addition to the ways you can always volunteer found on our Volunteer page. There are ways to work with kids and ways to help out behind the scenes. There are ongoing short commitments and one-time larger commitments. There are ways to help during school or on your own time. Many hands make light work, and we need parents, family, and friends who can help make things happen for our students!

Check Lost & Found by Friday, February 13

Items in Lost & Found will be cleaned out on February 13, 2026 @ 3:00pm. Unclaimed items will be donated.

21st & Holden Walking School Bus every Thursday and Friday

Join us February 27th for a special Art Walk to School in honor of Black History Month.  Once at school, stay and have hot cocoa, or coffee and a snack, and learn about how our Walking School Bus program is set to grow in March!

Until then, join our regular Walking School Bus Thursdays and Fridays.  We leave from the Southwest corner of Holden and 24th Ave 24th SW at 7:20 am.  Get a safe and fun walk to school with Nurse Ann and Mr. Hakeem by joining the group.

Interested in supporting kids getting to school?  Let us know if you can help walk or drive Roxhill students to school, we have multiple requests for support. Contact friendsofroxhill@gmail.com to help.

Another way to help with transportation

The district is hiring School Crossing Guards!

Seattle Public Schools is looking for caring and responsible crossing guards to help keep our students safe on their way to and from school. As a school crossing guard, you’ll play a crucial role in our community by helping children cross the street and arrive at school ready to learn!

🦺 Why become a Crossing Guard?

  • Make a Difference: Your presence can help keep kids and families safe.
  •  Stay Active: Enjoy fresh air while you help others.
  •  Build Community: Connect with families and neighbors.

Seeking Auction Item Donations

The FORE auction committee is seeking item donations for our spring auction fundraiser! Our auction will be online from March 23- April 3.  Items that tend to do well include: gift cards (to local restaurants, nail salons, cafes, etc.), certificates, event tickets, experiences, and gift-worthy items.  If you or anyone in your network would like to donate, please fill out this item donation form. We hope to secure all item donations by March 9.

The money we raise through the auction supports the community events we organize—like Skate night and Family Fun Night!—support for school activities, maintenance of the school garden and more.

Help Plan Family Fun Night!

Want to help plan and organize the activities for family fun night? We would love your help and need volunteers! In particular, we need someone who can plan a simple arts and crafts project. Reach out if you’re interested.
