Welcome back! Let’s get together and support each other!

It’s back-to-school week, and we can’t wait to see you at the Ice Cream Social (Tuesday, Sept 2!), the September playground meetup, or our first community meeting of the year! We’re looking forward to an exciting year full of building community and supporting each other. We’ll have events, fundraisers, and other spaces for joining together.

Read on for upcoming events and how to contribute to this year’s classroom grants!

And if you missed it, make sure to read the Roxhill August School News with a letter from our new Principal and important back-to-school information! Principal Bruno shared that our theme for the year will be Deep Roots, Bright Futures. We look forward to building on the strong friendships from past years and the new ones we’ll make this year!

Back to School Field Trip and Classroom Fund

Last week we launched our Back to School Field Trip and Classroom Fund drive. The money we raise goes directly to support our classrooms for field trips or special projects that otherwise wouldn’t be possible. Our goal is to raise $20 per student, but we welcome donations of any amount. Can you give us a few dollars, $20, $40, or even enough for a whole class? Everything makes a difference.

Did you know Roxhill provides every student with the high-quality school supplies they need? Many schools ask families to cover the cost of these supplies. If your family is able, making a tax deductible donation is a great way to support your child’s teachers and classroom in place of purchasing school supplies.

Upcoming Events

You can always find the latest events on our website calendar.

Ice Cream Social: Tuesday, September 2

Our first chance to play together and see old and new friends is tomorrow Tuesday, September 2 at the back-to-school ice cream social! Come to school to play on the playground, meet your teacher, and get a sweet cold treat from Friends of Roxhill! We’ll be there to answer questions and collect back-to-school forms for the student directory, Carpool Connections, and volunteer interest.

Playground Playdate: Saturday, September 13

Next up: Come and play at the park! We’ll be at Roxhill Playground aka Castle Park across the street from Westwood Village from 10am-12pm. Bring a snack to share if you can and invite your friends from school!

Community Meeting: Monday, September 15

The first community meeting of the year is a perfect place for both new and returning families. We’ll be making space to get to know each other, learn about Friends of Roxhill, get updates from Principal Bruno, learn about ways to get involved, and—most importantly—spend time listening to what you want to learn and do this year.

Save the Date: MOD Pizza Dineout, September 25

On Thursday, September 25, you have an amazing opportunity: eat pizza to support your school! Meet up for dinner with other Roxhill families at our first dineout fundraiser of the year. 20% of every purchase goes to support Friends of Roxhill, plus you get to eat pizza! 🍕 See full details to make sure your order supports Roxhill.

New ways to follow, connect, and learn more

If you head over to our website, you might notice it looks a little different! We’ve updated it and hopefully made it easier to find the information you care about. Like all new things, it could probably be improved, so please send us feedback.

If you’re not following us on Instagram yet, you’re missing out! Our @FriendsOfRoxhill account started last year includes awesome teacher profiles, event reminders, and other community events we don’t share elsewhere. And of course, you can still find us Facebook and join our private group for student families too.

We want to hear from you!

This year, we are focusing on asking for your feedback and listening to it. As our school’s PTO, we see our job as supporting the school community to meet its goals and build a vibrant community for our students and school staff. Please get in touch at any time with your questions, ideas, and feedback.

Let’s have a great year together!
