There are many ways to support Roxhill, including working with FORE! Volunteer roles that interact directly with children in the school require approval, but anyone can help with other roles like event setup and cleanup. Volunteer opportunities are shared at our monthly community meetings, through our newsletter, and on Instagram and Facebook.
If you don’t have time to volunteer, there are other ways to support our school! Bring your students to school events to help build community or donate to Friends of Roxhill to support our work.
Ways to help out!
There are so many ways to be involved. Here are just some examples of on-going opportunities beyond those listed on the page linked above.
Some volunteer positions are one-time commitments like event setup, while others are ongoing like reading buddies or joining the FORE board. You can always get in touch with us if you have other ideas or questions!
Be a Reading Buddy!
Read with a student right after drop-off from 8:00 – 8:15am (other times available).
Contact Katarina to schedule.
Must be an approved SPS volunteer.
Support your student’s classroom
Many teachers appreciate support in different ways. Almost every teacher will need support with fieldtrips at some time during the year. If you want to work in a classroom, reach out directly to your teacher!
Must be an approved SPS volunteer.
Help out in the office
At various times during the year, office staff can use support. Reach out to Ms. Christa or Ms. Zuri, if interested.
Must be an approved SPS volunteer.
Plan and support events!
Friends of Roxhill can also use more hands to plan, setup, and run our events such as Family Fun Night, Skate Night, and our Auction.
Contact us to learn about ways to help with upcoming events!
Join the FORE Board
Please contact us to learn more. We are seeking people with experience in bookkeeping/accounting, communications, fundraising, and grant-writing, though skills in those areas are not required to apply.
SPS Volunteer Approval
New in 2025: in the front office before applying. You will need to have a specific volunteer role assigned to you in order to complete the application.
The updated SPS volunteer portal was relaunched in October 2025. We are still learning how to support people in completing volunteer applications. We encourage people to contact the office before applying, to improve the speed of the process and ensure it’s completed correctly.
Volunteer roles that directly interact with children (such as field trip chaperones) require an approved volunteer application through SPS. Learn more about volunteering in Seattle Public Schools. Once you have applied, check your status and renew your approval from the SPS volunteer portal.
“I am proud to call Roxhill the best and friendliest school ever! Thanks to everyone.”

Whether you can help once or on a regular basis, we appreciate any time that you can give to help our school!
