Last Friday was Family Fun Night, and it sure was fun! We had crafts, games, a tasty bake sale, a rockin’ dance party with DJ Hero, and so much pizza. We were also joined by community organizations helping support healthy bodies, free ORCA passes for kids, and more. It was a great night, and all possible thanks to the support of parent volunteers and donors.
At the end of the last school year, we did an activity at the final Friends of Roxhill community meeting to brainstorm ways to strengthen our school. We celebrated the first year of our auction and identified shared desires for improved outdoor space and afterschool programs. These are beautiful big dreams, and we’re trying to listen and support those goals. While they are small steps, our auction is back and raising funds to help beautify our blacktop and we have a new afterschool art club (see below!) starting after Spring Break! Check those out and more in this month’s newsletter.

Roxhill Auction Closes April 3. Bid now!
Our online auction is one of the key ways we’re able to support our school with flexible money that can be used for things like outdoor school, Family Fun Night, Skate Night, teacher appreciation, and more. There are still a few days to share and bid on items in our auction!
There are so many great items—some still available at a discount!—including sports tickets, summer camps, birthday parties, self care experiences, date nights, family activities, a pro-quality signed Kraken jersey, more.
In addition to the items, you can buy tickets to one or more of our awesome teacher and staff experiences! Enter a cupcake decoration competition, go explore Camp Long for a fun afternoon, and, of course, slime party with Ms. Binkow! Some experiences are already full, so check these out before they’re sold out!
Can you share the auction? It makes a huge difference
One of the best ways you can help is by sharing the auction with friends, families, neighbors, and social networks. We’ve put together a letter you can use for an easy email promotion!
And thank you to our sponsors: Sea Pines Physical Therapy, Irene S. Parkhill DDS Family Denstistry, Kae Dental, and Resting Waters.

Calling Roxhill artists grades 3-5: apply today for After School Art Club on Wednesdays
Starting the week after spring break, Low Tide Arts will host 10 students in grades 3-5 on site at Roxhill, meeting weekly on Wednesday early release day for 90 minutes. Each week, we’ll explore a new medium or materials – practice drawing, painting, printmaking, and collage with the support of a collaborative peer group and our teaching artist. If your student enjoys making art, learning about art, and is interested in trying new things, this club is for them!
Wednesdays, 1:15 – 2:45pm
8 weeks: April 22 – June 10
Art club is offered through Low Tide Arts at no cost to families, made possible by funding through 4Culture. All materials and a daily snack is provided. Paper application forms were sent home with students last week – let us know if you need another copy.
Return your completed form or apply online by April 3!
Lost and Found: Check before April 10!
It’s Spring cleaning time! Lost & Found is filling up! We will clear out all leftover items on Friday April 10th @ 3:00pm. You are welcome to stop by 7:35 am – 3:00pm Monday – Friday.
Girls on the Run Seeking Snacks
Can you help out providing snacks to our Girls on the Run afterschool club? Sign up to claim a day. We’ve got some awesome Roxstar students that need a refueling before getting to work.
Supporting our community in the face of immigration enforcement
At our February community meeting, we joined together to hear from Principal Bruno, Ms. Binkow, and Nurse Ann about how our school will respond to immigration enforcement actions at or near our school. You should know that it is SPS policy to limit access to school grounds and never share any student or family information without a judicial warrant.
We’ve put together a new page on our website to help. It includes:
- More details about our schools policy for responding to immigrant enforcement
- Links to resources including Know Your Rights guides and trainings
- Resources for any families needing support during this difficult time
If your family needs support 💖
We encourage you to contact the front office. There are many resources available and families eager to help.
If you are interested in being involved in efforts to respond to enforcement activity or support our neighbors, email friendsofroxhill@gmail.com to receive potential future information about meetings and requests for support.
Meet with new superintendent online, tomorrow: Thursday, April 2
Thursday, April 2, 6–7:30 p.m., Virtual
The last of Superintendent Shuldiner’s engagement tour is tomorrow! Families have multiple chances to meet, hear from, and give feedback to Seattle Public Schools’ new superintendent Ben Shuldiner this month during a community engagement tour.
It’s important for family feedback to drive SPS policies, and so making our voices heard during these sessions is important!
